This research analyzes the period of the Argentine democratic transition with the tools of History and the contributions of the gender perspective and literary criticism. Our approach aims to provide historical density to an issue that has been treated, mostly, with the categories and theoretical premises of Political Science. This does not mean ignoring the contributions made by this discipline, in fact, it is based on the classic studies on transition, to think about the concepts of uncertainty and conflict as axes that structure this study. An analytical debate on periodizations is proposed and the role of certain civil society actors such as the Human Rights movement, women's activism and feminism, trade unionism and the Catholic Church is restored at the center of the analysis. We weighed the influence of socioeconomic factors in the transitional process. The dimension of representations is incorporated into the analysis as another way of exploring the meanings attributed to the transition, through the perspective of the literature of the period. The current political context of Latin America, traversed by attempts and concretions of processes for the removal of democratic governments that appealed, in some cases, to constitutional mechanisms to execute them, shows the importance of advancing with historical studies on transition processes to the democracy of the eighties to rethink the contemporary scope of democracy.
